Our dogs love treats and chew sticks. They can be pricey. I like to change it up for the boys and give them some variety. I found this recipe, so I gave it a try. The boys love them and they are easy to make.

Ingredients:
– 1 cup rolled oats or Oat flour
– 1/2 cup canned pumpkin (unsweetened, no spices)
– 1/4 cup natural peanut butter (unsalted, xylitol-free)
– 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed (optional for added fiber)
– 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon (optional) – 1/4 cup water (as needed)

Instructions:
1. Preheat oven to 300°F.
2. Blend rolled oats in a food processor until they reach a coarse flour consistency. I used oat flour instead.
3. In a mixing bowl, combine pumpkin, peanut butter, flaxseed, and oat flour.
4. Gradually add water if needed to form a dough.
5. Roll out the dough and cut or roll into stick shapes 4-5 inches long..
6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until firm. I didn’t have any parchment paper, but they didn’t stick.
7. Allow to cool completely before serving.
Storage instructions:
– Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 1 week.
– Refrigerate for up to 3 weeks or freeze for up to 3 months.

Health Benefits:
– Pumpkin aids digestion and is rich in fiber.
– Oats provide energy and support gut health.
– Peanut butter adds protein and healthy fats.
Calorie Information:
Approximately 40-50 calories per stick, depending on size.
And they taste good!

Your dog will enjoy these healthy chews.
