It may seem like no big deal, but keeping your craft supplies organized isn’t just about accumulating more stuff. A well organized craft space saves time, decreases the frustration of finding supplies and prevents duplicate purchases.
Managing your supplies allows you to spend more time enjoying your hobby. It keeps you more focused and allows you to find supplies quicker.
A clutter free workspace
A clutter free workspace helps you get into the habit of being more tidy. By putting things away in their given home, it helps maintain order.
Where to start?
First take all your craft supplies out. Sort through them. Put like items together. If over time you have changed what crafts or types of sewing you enjoy doing, consider donating those supplies to friends.
Label
Using containers that are labeled, is a great way to organize. This will make things easier to find and use. I have a label maker to label containers. I even have a container for my labeler and the tape cartridges!

Labeling your supply containers is important to remind you where those supplies belong when you are done using them. If you have kids or friends crafting with you, they can easily grab supplies as well..
The psychology behind order
Clutter actually has a psychological impact on the brain. When your supplies are in a state of disorder it causes what psychologists call “decision fatigue.” Wasting time looking for a certain stamp or the right embroidery floss drains your mental energy and zaps your creative flow.
Storage order
With storage order comes the expansion of more crafting items. This is when you experience “organizational permission,” a safety net that makes acquiring more new materials feel manageable. Good organization actually inspires creative investigation rather than hindering it!
