Doodling by definition is mindless drawing while your mind is busy during a phone conversation, meeting or lecture.
The art of doodling does not have a final design plan. There are no guidelines as to what it should look like. For some, it’s repeated lines or shapes, while others draw the same word in a variety of styles.
Benefits of doodling

It can actually benefit your mind and body to doodle. It occupies your mind just enough to keep you from daydreaming or zoning out, so you actually pay attention to the information being presented.
If you are feeling stressed, doodling is a good tool for coping.
Making any form of art has been shown to decrease your stress level. Mindless drawing has a calming effect and can actually spark your creativity.

This art is meant to be simple and random. There are many examples online to try. They can even teach you to draw objects in their simplest form.

Whether on the edge of your paper, in the margins or in a sketch book or journal, doodling improves your focus, relieves stress and helps you express your creativity. It can actually increase your memory retention by up to 30%!
Simple or complex?


Whether keeping it simple or doodling whole pages, there is no right or wrong way. You can color in your doodles with markers or colored pencils. Make them into cards or any number of things. Teachers were wrong! There is some good to come of doodling!
